A 16th-century Tyrolean carved wooden sculpture of the Madonna and Child, retaining original gesso, gilding, and polychromy. Crafted from limewood and attributed to the Alpine region of Tyrol, this ecclesiastical figure reflects Renaissance devotional artistry and regional craftsmanship—perfect for collectors of religious statuary and antique wood carvings.
Provenance - Unknown. Verso, the carving bears an incised name of "GL Pettron" set within a poker-work/branded armorial shield that has been scorched into the timber. This may well be an old collection mark.
Condition - Please refer to the images. There is surface wear throughout. There are traces of old worm albeit this is inactive and has been treated too as a precautionary measure. A further detailed condition report is available upon request.
