A diminutive reconstituted stone bust of the Roman Emperor Marcus Aurelius (B.121 AD to D.180 AD) in the classical manner.

Marcus Aurelius was the last of the Five Good Emperors of Rome. His reign marked the end of a period of internal tranquility and good government. After his death the empire quickly descended into civil war. He has symbolized the Golden Age of the Roman Empire for many generations in the West.
Made from reconstituted stone (probably marble) and polychromed.
This sculpture would display well in a a gentleman's study.
Provenance - sourced from a Portuguese collection. The bust appears to have been produced within the last one hundred years.
Condition - as per the images. Lacking its plinth base (we are currently having a replacement made in ebonised timber). A further detailed condition report is available upon request.
Size - Height 20 cm x Width 16.5 cm x Depth 11 cm  (8 " x 6 1/2" x 4 1/4")
