A Nuremberg Pewter "Noah" Plate.
Mid-17th century. Attributed to Nuremberg, Germany.
Taken from the mould by Paulus Öham the Elder, cast with a central roundel depicting three figures before an altar and inscribed "NOE.GIENS.AVS.DER.ARCH.GETR.OST.OPFER.JT.16.GOTT.19" within a broad border of vases of flowers and with four cartouches representing the stories of Adam and Eve.
Provenance: By repute, this example was illustrated in the Encyclopdia Britannica. Two similar examples are in the Metropolitan Museum, New York, accession numbers 06.786 and 1991.122.10.
Condition - As per the images. Staining to part of the lower rim. A further detailed condition report is available upon request.
