A beautiful late 16th Century antique burr wood table top box of generous proportions.

Continental origin - possibly Eastern Europe.

Of plank construction with iron strapwork. Original carry handles and lock plate.

The external surfaces are veneered in the most glorious burr wood.

Superb colour and patination.

Condition - good as the per the images. There are some age-related losses to the surface veneer at the edges, specifically to the top. The lock mechanism, catch and hinges are later replacements. There are traces of old worm but this is long since gone and has been treated too as a precautionary measure.  This box does have real presence and displays very well.
