A rare 16th-century Spanish antique communion cup carved from serpentine stone. The bowl features a flared rim, supported over a knopped stem and octagonal foot — its form echoing ecclesiastical metalwork of the period, yet rendered here in stone with devotional simplicity.
The serpentine is softly mottled, with natural veining and a gentle sheen. Likely used in a private chapel or monastic setting, this cup carries both liturgical significance and sculptural presence.
A tactile and symbolic survivor from Renaissance Spain, ideal for collectors of religious artefacts, carved stone, or continental devotional objects.
Provenance: Spain. 16th century.
Condition - as per images. A couple of very minor rim frits to the top of the bowl can be detected. Aside from this, there are no traces of any other repairs. A further detailed condition report is available upon request.
