Rare Pair of Mid-19th Century Scottish Antique Treacle Glaze Sash Window Supports / Furniture Supports
A rare pair of Mid-19thC antique stoneware sash window stops / furniture supports, circa 1860.
Scottish origin.
With stylised masks, these stops were used to support an open sash window, raising it some 4" from the sill. These supports were also used to raise furniture off floors.
Decorated with treacle-glaze.
Provenance - From a private collection based in Yorkshire, England.
Condition - there are some frits and chips commensurate with age, specifically to the supporting pediments verso to the masks. These cannot be seen from the front. Both noses on the masks also have wear. Please refer to the images. A further detailed condition report is available upon request.
Size - Each = Height approx 10 cm (4").
