A rare late 17th-century boarded oak and straw-work box dating back to the reign of King Charles II.

The one piece hinged lid with moulded edge, all sides decorated mainly with lozenge four-petal flowers and circular straw motifs, within a lozenge border, the base board extending to rounded rim, on turned feet,.

Provenance - Ex Keith Hockin (deceased), Stow-on-the--Wold, private collection. Acquired by us 2024.

Condition - Please refer to the images. The top is warped slightly towards the front. Loss to one rear corner of the base. The feet, whilst showing a great deal of age, my have been replaced, in part. There are some old losses to the straw decoration. A further detailed condition report is available upon request.

Size - 24cm wide x 23cm deep x 15cm high (9 1/2" x 9" x 6")
