ARRIVING MID APRIL 2025...
A Lámhóg / Lamhog is an Irish ceremonial drinking vessel.
They were often used in taverns and were usually made of willow with an integral carved handle called a lug.
These treen drinking vessels were made from a single block of wood usually turned on a pole lathe and then finished off with hand tools. The lug would have been gouged out by hand.
Cylindrical, tapering downwards and sometimes flaring out at the base, they are now quite rare, with many surviving examples held in museums.
Whilst this particular 18th-Century example is of more primitive form and constructed from other indigenous timbers, we simply couldn't resist acquiring it.
