A rare antique cherry wood box stool of exceptional colour and patination.
Late 17th Century in date, circa 1680.
Most probably for a child given its size.
The plank top with a moulded edge secured to the carcass by way of wire hinges, over a moulded supporting apron with four turned legs united by peripheral stretchers.
Condition - The plank top has split and been repaired (see image 2). The hasp is missing. A minor piece of moulding is missing from the edge of the plank top and a fillet of timber has been inserted in the supporting apron of the carcass to the back left where the wire hinge sits. Please remember that this stool is in excess of 340 years old so there is bound to be some wear!
