A rare and evocative example of an English early 18th century primitive turner's chair, made for a child, and retaining its original painted surface. This charming piece originates from the North of England and showcases the honest craftsmanship of the period.
Constructed from a mix of elm, ash, and sycamore, the chair features a deeply patinated surface and a wonderfully naive form, typical of vernacular furniture from the early 1700s. Its low seat height and robust build suggest it was made for practical use, likely in a rural domestic setting.
The chair’s primitive aesthetic and untouched surface make it a highly desirable piece for collectors of early English country furniture.
