A delightful and well-carved pair of early 17th-century antique oak appliques in the form of male heads.
Most probably of Continental origin.
One depicted wearing a hat, beard and ruff, the other with oak leaves and acorns for hair and a moustache and "skull patch" beard.
These carvings may have once adorned a fireplace or period piece of furniture now long since lost.
