A rare pair of late Georgian period lyre-shaped boot scrapers with ground spikes, circa 1820-1830.
Made from cast iron, these boot scrapers, popular in the early 19th-century, were designed with a blade mounted on a lyre-shaped frame, featuring an elongated spike for insertion into the ground.
Dating back to the reign of George IV, this pair bear no makers mark but were probability made in a foundry such as that of Archibald Kenrick & Sons of West Bromwich, England.
It is rare to find a pair of original undamaged boot-scrapers.
These would make a great addition to any period property or garden.
Provenance - Acquired directly from a private collection in Cambridgeshire, England.
Condition - Please refer to the images. The external surface of each scraper has been restored. There are no cracks to the iron or traces of repairs. These are ready to be installed and used.
