A rare and evocative pair of late medieval carved oak spandrels, each depicting a standing saint in relief. These fragments were likely part of a larger ecclesiastical structure — possibly choir stalls, rood screen, or architectural framing — and retain their original polychrome, now beautifully softened by age.
One figure wears a mitre and robes, suggesting a bishop or abbot; the other holds a book, possibly a Gospel or Psalter. Their stylised features, elongated proportions, and expressive carving are typical of late 15th‑century devotional art.
These are powerful survivors of sacred architecture — richly atmospheric, full of character, and steeped in centuries of reverence.
Provenance: Anglo-European. 15th Century.
Material: Oak with large amounts of original polychrome.
