A late 18th-century English antique wine table / tripod table made in the provinces of England, hence the use of oak and mahogany in its construction.
With a circular top, turned column, and three splayed legs, this table blends Georgian elegance with rural craftsmanship. The oak base and mahogany top reflect regional resourcefulness and stylistic aspiration — a charming hybrid of materials and form.
The surface is warmly patinated, with signs of age and use that enhance its character. Ideal as a wine table, lamp stand, or accent piece in a refined interior.
A poetic survivor from the Georgian period, full of charm and provincial grace.
Provenance: England. Late 18th century.
Condition: The top shows signs of over two centuries of wear - hands have touched and carried this piece around for over two hundred years and the timber has thinned very slightly towards the edge. The top has a lovely colour as one would expect. The oak stem is sound. There are traces of restoration to one leg, where it has been reattached to the base of the stem; however, this has been undertaken exceedingly well and cannot be detected unless under very close scrutiny.
