An early 19th Century English antique copper tobacco snuff box of ovoid form.

The lid Inscribed "Peter Kirkman to his father Wm. Kirkman, Gt. Yarmouth 1811" and decorated with a tankard full of ale and two crossed smokers pipes. Verso, the box is decorated with a heart struck with two arrows and below, a full length male and female figure in full period attire. The sides are inscribed "God Save The British Fleet".

The lid opens to reveal an interior void of any fittings.

Provenance - Sadly Unknown. Parish records show a William Kirkman born in 1782 in Yarnouth. He worked as a shipwright. He passed away in 1858 in Chatham.

Condition - Good as per the images. There is age-related surface wear. A further detailed condition report is available upon request.

Size - Length 8 cm x Width 4.5 cm Height 1.5 cm (3 1/8" x 1 3/4" x 5/8")
