A characterful mid‑19th‑century English stool, fashioned from elm and ash, displaying the honest wear and tactile surface you expect from a piece that has lived a long, practical life. The thick,  elm seat shows generations of use, with a warm patina and the gentle rounding that only time and handling can produce.

The four splayed ash legs are traditionally fixed to the underside of the elm seat and are united by stretchers, giving the stool both strength and that unmistakable vernacular silhouette. The splay is confident without being exaggerated — the sort of everyday rural joinery made by a competent hand rather than a workshop.

Surfaces show age‑related marks, shrinkage, and the soft abrasions that collectors of English country furniture value. It’s a stool with presence: simple, functional, and beautifully unpretentious.

Perfect for farmhouse interiors, fireside settings, or as a sculptural accent in a contemporary space that appreciates authentic 19th‑century craftsmanship.
