A mid-18th-century Welsh antique oak low boy or side table dating to the reign of King George II, circa 1740. The plank top features a moulded edge over an arrangement of three drawers with brass handles, supported on cabriole legs and pad feet.
The oak is richly patinated, with warm tones and visible grain. The proportions are balanced and provincial, reflecting Welsh craftsmanship of the Georgian period.
This piece would have served as a writing table, dressing table, or hall side table in a country home. A tactile and practical survivor from 18th-century Wales — full of charm, character, and historic presence.
With its original brass handles and escutcheon.
Superb colour and patina. Tables of this calibre with original handles are getting much harder to find.
Condition: The majority of this table is original and dates back to the time it was made! The runners (made of oak) appear to have been replaced historically. The linings to the large top drawer and the left smaller drawer are original throughout. The brass handles and escutcheon are original. The base of the smaller right drawer has been replaced at some point during its life.
