Mid 18th Century English Antique Stonebow
An English stonebow, originally used for hunting.
Probably by Barker of Wigan, late 18th century, with robust steel bow retained by a pair of long steel side-plates, with engraved walnut tiller of gun-stock form, fitted with a moulded steel finial at the front.
William Barker is recorded making crossbows in Wigan, Lancashire, circa 1754-86.
Offered for sale with its original string.
