A charming mid‑18th‑century English delftware bowl, almost certainly produced in Bristol, decorated in manganese and soft blue‑green tones. The interior features a central floral motif surrounded by freely painted leaves and blossoms, while the exterior carries complementary scrolling decoration typical of Bristol tin‑glazed wares of the period.
The bowl is finished in a pale green‑white tin glaze, a hallmark of Bristol production, and displays the spontaneous brushwork associated with the city’s workshops during the 1740–1760 period. These bowls were used in domestic settings for serving food, fruit, or small table dishes, and today they make highly collectable examples of early English ceramics.
Provenance - England. 18thC. The manganese floral interior, greenish glaze, and loose brushwork align closely with documented Bristol examples from the mid‑18th century. The palette and decorative rhythm differ from Lambeth’s bolder blue‑dominant style and Liverpool’s whiter, more controlled glazes.
Material: Earthenware body with tin-glaze.
Condition - Please refer to the images. Good overall. There are no traces of restoration.
