Mid 17thC English Antique Oak Child’s Armchair attributed to Westmorland / Cumbria.

A mid-17th Century English antique oak child's armchair attributed to Westmorland (now Cumbria and the Lake District).

The panelled back with classical-carved cresting rail, flanked by uprights with "S" scrolls. The central panel heavily carved with a foliate geometric pattern and central floral rosette.

With shaped arms over turned front arm supports and plank seat with carved apron below supported on legs of square-form.

The chair has lovely colour and patination.

Condition - This chair was originally a child's high chair but has been cut down. The original apertures for the safety bar across the arms remains, albeit the bar is long since lost. The foot rest apertures also remain at the base of the chair (see images).
