A Charles I English antique oak and elm mural glass cupboard.
Attributed to the West Country, England, circa 1640.
Having seventeen columnar-turned spindles, joined and pivotal hinged to the centre to form a door, each side carved with a large elongated acanthus leaf within an arch, the single plank top and base boards with leafy-carved edge.
This is a marvellus and rare cupboard.
Provenance - Unknown.
Condition - Please refer to the images. There are minor traces of restoration. The cupboard has traces of its original 17thC blue paint to the interior backboards aside two that were replaced historically. The top has two very minor wooden plug repairs at one end to the upper surface. These cannot be seen from the front. There is surface wear to one of the spindles in the door which appears to have been caused by a candle burn at some point. There is nothing onerous with this piece. It is as good as they come bearing in mind it is 385 years old.
