A rare mid-17th-century antique earthenware lead-glazed candleholder.
With a single candleholder with ejection aperture, drip pan with an attached, shaped, wall-hanger/carry handle, short stem, and a circular foot with a raised rim and spout.
An identical example is held in the collection of Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen, Rotterdam, Holland, which dates it to circa 1650-1700.
The form of this candleholder is derived from the metalwork examples of the period.
Provenance - Ex-private collection, Holland. Previously acquired from DKN Gallery, Holland.
Condition - Very minor traces of restoration. Please refer to the images. This holder displays very well. A further detailed condition report is available upon request.
