A mid-16thC antique carved oak "romayne" type panel.
French origin.
The female sitter portrayed with her head in side profile, her shoulders in full profile. She is flanked above and below and to her sides with a mix of scrolls and stylised foliage.
Verso, the panel bears an old French advertising label which includes a date of 1889.
Provenance - Unknown. Sourced within the UK.
Condition - Please refer to the images. There is surface wear and losses specifically to the outer edges however the panel continues to display well. A further detailed condition report is available upon request.
