A late 18th Century antique treen spinning wheel. This works wonderfully and has undergone only minor sympathetic restoration.

Scottish origin, most probably originating from the Hebridian Islands, circa 1790.

Constructed from oak, elm and beech.

With a flywheel above a base (table) carved with a love-heart over turned front and rear legs and a shaped treadle.

Re-strung with a new drive band.

All timbers are completely original aside from the footman (drive shaft which connects the treadle to the wheel).

This has wonderful patination.

Condition - Good overall. The wheel still functions fully. There are some minor traces of old woodworm but this is inactive and treated too as a precautionary measure. A further detailed condition report is available upon request.

Size: Height to the top of wheel 91.4 cm (36") x Length 78.75 (31") x Depth (inc splayed feet) 49.5 cm (19 1/2")
