A late 18th-century Scottish antique oak candle box of nailed construction, formed from solid oak with a shaped wall plate and sliding front panel.
With a shaped wall plate. The sliding front with fielded panel, topped with three decorative finials, the middle in the shape of a thistle.
The oak is richly patinated, with warm tones and visible grain. The form is practical yet decorative — a fine example of vernacular craftsmanship from Georgian Scotland.
This piece would have hung in a hallway or kitchen, offering both storage and rustic charm. A tactile survivor from the age of candlelight, full of character and domestic history.
Patination: Scotland. Late 18th century.
