A late 18th-century Scottish antique snuff box made from bovine horn with a wooden lod and leather carry handle.
The horn bears scratch carved decoration with a date of "1799" and verso the initial "G" ser within a lozenge-shaped border. Other initials are inscribed but are difficult to read. The end upright also bears the symbol of a cross.
Provenance - Found in the Borders of England and Scotland.
Condition - Please refer to the images. There is surface wear. The leather carry-handle is broken but could be easily replaced if required.
Size - Height 7 cm x Max Width at the base 10 cm x Depth 4 cm (2 3/4" x 4" x 1 9/16)
