Late 18th Century English/Scottish Antique Wrought Iron Peerman On A Turned Wooden Base
A lateb18thC antique wrought iron peerman.
English/Scottish origin.
With sprung iron jaws and an elongated twisted iron stem supported on a turned wooden base.
The jaws would have originally been used to hold a large pine cone or similar soaked in mutton fat. This would be lit to produce light.
All-in-all a charming piece of primitive lighting.
Provenance - Found within Norfolk, England.
Condition - Please refer to the images. There is surface oxidation to the iron and minor wear to the wooden base commensurate with age. A further detailed condition report is available upon request.
