A late 18th Century English antique apprentice-made miniature bureau.
Constructed from pine (deal) and overlaid with mahogany veneer, the bureau comprises a brushing slide and pull-out supports, with an arrangement of two-over-two drawers below. The fall front opens to reveal a fitted interior with a combination of compartments/pigeon holes and drawers. The bureau is supported overall on a bracket feet.
The original door furniture remains (brass to the exterior drawers, etc) with inlaid bone forming the shield-shaped key escutcheons and internally, the handles are made of bone.
Provenance - Unknown.
Condition - as per the images. There is some age-related wear and light degradation to the exterior veneers. The left pull-out support lacks its handle/knob and so do the bottom two drawers. This overall is a charming piece of apprentice-made furniture.
