A late 18th-century English antique mahogany wig or peruke stand. Please note that the wig is a contemporary copy of an 18thC gentleman's wig and is not included in the sale.
Of elongated form and floor standing, the stand has a padded velvet finial above a turned bobbin stem, supported overall on a triangular-shaped plinth base with three small turned bun feet below.
Lovely colour and patination.
Provenance - Ex-Private collection, North Yorkshire, England.
Condition - Good as per the images. The blue velvet covering on the finial has been replaced at some point but has been undertaken sympathetically. The stem is secured by way of a wooden screw to the base and is very stable. A further detailed condition report is available upon request.
