A fine late 18th‑century pewter charger, richly decorated with wrigglework and engraved as a love token, dated 1791. The reverse carries two clear London touchmarks: a Tudor rose quality stamp and the crowned C.P. maker’s mark of Christopher Perry, a documented London pewterer active c.1760–1790.
The surface is beautifully worked with wrigglework motifs — stylised hearts, geometric borders, and a central inscription — typical of the sentimental chargers produced to commemorate marriages, betrothals, or family events. The decoration remains crisp, and the pewter has developed a soft, even patina that only centuries of handling can produce.
A superb example of Georgian vernacular metalwork, combining craftsmanship, symbolism, and personal history.
