A late 18th-Century antique brass rise-and-fall and candlestick.
Scandinavian origin. Most probably Sweden.
Made from sheet brass. The single candleholder has a rolled rim over a plain stem. The stem is fitted with a rise-and-fall mechanism and rolled handle, which enables a candle to be raised or lowered. The stem is riveted to the oval-shaped base which also serves as a drip-pan. The pan has a flared rim and hanging hoop.
Provenance - Unknown.
Condition - Good as per the images aside from some age-related surface wear. A further detailed condition report is available upon request.
