A William & Mary blue and white delftware commemorative coronation charger, circa 1690.
Dutch origin.
Painted with a double portrait of King William III and Queen Mary and inscription below. Surrounded by a border decorated with flowers.
William III of Orange and his wife Mary II, ascended the British throne after the 1688 Glorious Revolution brought them to power and made them joint rulers of England, Scotland and Ireland.
Decorated verso and bearing a decorators mark.
Similar examples are held in the collections of The National Trust, UK; Metropolitan Museum, USA and Brooklyn Museum, USA.
Provenance - unknown.
Condition - Please refer to the images. Restored section to the rim and restored crack, flaking of glaze around the rim. The charger displays well.
