Late 16th Century English Antique Oak Boarded Chest or Coffer in “Barn Found” Condition
A late 16th Century English antique oak boarded chest/coffer of six-plank construction.
Offered in "barn found" condition.
With cut-out end boards, original lockplate, and remains of its original hasp. The front board is decorated to the upright edges with chip carving and scratch moulding to the bottom edge. The lid is decorated to the front and back with a moulded edge and chip carving to the sides and opens to reveal an interior void of any fittings.
Condition - The coffer is in good condition despite being found in a barn. There are some surface marks commensurate with age and we have left this unwaxed.
