An early antique oak boarded stool of Gothic design.
Constructed from five boards, the plank seat of square form is joined to the base by way of four iron nails. The underside of the plank seat has four pairs of decorative brackets adjoined to each of the four supporting upright boards below.
The four supporting boards are each decorated with a cut-out trefoil and a lancet at their base.
Provenance - Unknown.
Condition - Please refer to the images. There is age-related wear and traces of old worm albeit inactive and Kong since gone. The stool has also been treated as a precautionary measure. The upright boards have been cut down very slightly to remove decayed timber that has been caused by standing on damp floors over many years. A further detailed condition report is available upon request.
