This rare oak figure of Saint Nicholas dates to the late 15th century and is a remarkable survival of early devotional sculpture.
The saint is depicted with children at his feet, a reference to the miracle most closely associated with him. Though the hands and staff are now missing — a common occurrence in medieval images of saints — the figure retains its original presence and integrity, with no restorations undertaken.
Carved from oak, the statue displays the warm patina and surface character that only centuries of age can impart. Its proportions are compact yet commanding, making it suitable for both private devotion in its original context and modern display as a collector’s piece.
The work originates from Belgium, a region renowned for its late Gothic and early Renaissance religious carvings.

Condition: Hands and staff missing; otherwise untouched, with no restorations. There is a large level of surface wear due to the item's age. Please remember that the sculpture is over 540 years old.
