18th Century English Antique Iron Hand-Held Lark spit
18th Century English Antique Iron Hand-Held Lark spit
An 18th-century English antique hand-held lark spit.
With a pair of prongs/tines to impale a bird or other meats. These devices were placed in front of the fire grate / hearth where the meat would gradually cook.
This example has a turned wooden carry handle and brass ferrule and shaped iron twin-stem, the upper with decorative knop, the lower with a rotating pair of tines.
This would look good added to any collection of early kitchenalia.
