A large 18th-Century antique earthenware jug of rare form.

Most probably Continental origin.

Depicting a man, with the remains of a tricorn hat, dressed in military uniform, straddling a large barrel. His sword held in its scabbard to the left side.

A shaped carry-handle is attached to his back.

Decorated in yellow ochre and honey-coloured glaze made with iron-oxide.

Provenance - Previously sold 28th October 2020, lot 274, Ferri & Associates Auctioneers, Paris, France.

Condition - Please refer to the images of the item. There are losses to the figures hat (pouring spout) and two frits to the front barrel edge and a single frit to the base. A further detailed condition report is available upon request.
