Historical Context
Horn drinking vessels were common across Scandinavia and Northern Europe from the medieval period into the 17th century, especially among rural communities. Turned on pole lathes, these goblets were valued for their lightweight durability and organic beauty. While ceremonial drinking horns were reserved for feasts and rituals, smaller goblets like this one served everyday domestic use and reflected the resourcefulness of early modern artisans.
