An early 19th Century English antique oil painting on papier mache face screen / fire screen depicting a country house scene of Lyme Hall, Disley, Cheshire (referred to at the bottom left of the corner of the painting).

Now referred to as Lyme Park. The current house, designated a Grade I listed building, built in the 1720's and altered between 1816-1822, was handed over to The National Trust in 1947.

The panel was originally used as a face screen / fire screen to prevent the effects of an open fire on a lady's face.

Offered for sale with its original turned wooden carry handle with traces of original gesso and paint.

Condition - Please refer to the images. The are minor losses. Some craquelure and a minor scratch is evident to the painting. The handle has been naively reattached at the bottom of the painting. Presented for sale overall in "country house condition", i.e. "as found". A further detailed condition report is available upon request.
