A large and impressive late 18th-century French antique carved wooden sculpture, retaining substantial areas of its original polychrome decoration.
The figure, likely representing Saint James, is depicted in flowing robes with a contemplative expression and finely carved features. The saint’s posture and attire — including a broad-brimmed hat and staff — suggest his identity as the patron of pilgrims. The carving is bold and expressive, with deep folds and confident lines that reflect the devotional artistry of the period.
This ecclesiastical sculpture may have once stood in a rural chapel or processional setting. Its scale and presence make it a striking focal point for collectors of religious art, French antiques, or historic interiors.

Condition - as per the images. Surface wear is commensurate with age. There is surface craquelure to the painted surface; however, this is stable. Please refer to the images.
