A 17th Century Cromwellian Period, English antique oak joint stool, circa 1650.

Provenance: Ex Norris Castle, Isle of White. Acquired from the subsequent collection of a gentleman of Spitalfields, London, England.

Made for a child as a stool or a low table.

Peg-joined construction.

With a plank seat-board of square form over a supporting apron with carved lower edge. There are four turned legs of baluster form all united by peripheral stretchers.

Condition - This is offered in "untouched, original, as found, attic condition". Unrestored and completely original. They do not come much rarer than this! Please refer to the images. Old worm damage (inactive and treated as a precautionary measure). The joints remain sound.
