Although each tile has losses, we couldn't resist acquiring these eight 16th-Century encaustic tiles.
Flemish origin.
Made from earthenware.
Each with slipware decorstion incorporating a rampant lion with a decorative border and corner spandrels. Four lions face right. The other four face left.
Despite the losses, they still make an impressive display.
Provenance - Direct from a private European collection.
Condition - Please refer to the images which are self-self-explanatory. A further detailed condition report is available upon request.
Size - H 14 cm x W 14 cm x D 1.8 cm (5 1/2" x 5 1/2" x 3/4").
