An 18th-century Russian antique icon.
Tempura and gilt on wooden panel with two doors which open to reveal The Virgin of Vladimir. The two doors are decorated to the exterior surface with images of Saints including Saint George slaying the dragon.
Provenance: Previously sold by Temple Gallery, 6 Clarendon Cross, Holland Park, London, 8th December 2006.
Condition - As per the images. Surface wear is commensurate with age. The wire hinges that attach the doors to the main carcass have deteriorated due to age. The icon continues to display well. A further condition report is available upon request.
