A large painted clock face historically salvaged from a longcase clock.
The 14" dial, possibly made by Wilson of Birmingham, incorporates an arch with a decorative country church scene, over a chapter ring and Arabic numerals below. The corner spandrels are painted with golden arches, each inset with an image of a sea shell and foliage.
The face must have originated from an eight-day clock given there are two winding holes (one flanking each side of the central aperture that would have accommodated the minute and hour hands) together with an aperture above (for the second hand) and an arched shaped aperture below (originally used to display the date behind).
Provenance - Unknown.
Condition - Please refer to the images. There is surface wear however the face display well as a decorated item in its own right. We love to see them on kitchen walls where they really add character to a room!
