An early 18th-century Continental antique pine (deal) tabletop document box of diminutive size, possibly Germanic in origin. Crafted with dovetailed construction and a slightly domed lid, this charming box was likely used for storing personal papers or valuables.
The surface retains a dry, oxidised patina with iron strapwork hinges and traces of early wear. Its compact scale and honest construction speak to vernacular traditions of rural Europe, where utility and simplicity were prized. A rare survivor with sculptural presence and understated charm.
Ideal for collectors of early Continental furniture, rustic pine, or historical domestic objects.
Provenance: Europe - possibly German. 18th century.
