An early 17th-century English antique bronze mortar dating back to the reign of King James I of England, and dated "1614".
With a flared rim and bearing the inscription "ANNO 1614" over a body decorated with foliate and floral designs supported on a stepped base.
Provenance - Sourced within East Anglia.
Condition - Please refer to the images. In good condition albeit the mortar has been cleaned by the previous owner so there is a lack of age-related surface patina.
Size - Height 14.5 cm (5 3/4").
