A fine example of Dutch Delft tin-glazed earthenware, decorated in underglaze blue with a stylised flower spray rising from a baluster vase on a stepped circular plinth, with grass tufts to the base. The central "vaas met bloemen" motif, drawn with confident, fluid brushwork, reflects the strong influence of Chinese Wanli "kraak" porcelain imported by the VOC.
Bold volute corner motifs of ox-head type frame the composition, consistent with Delft and Rotterdam production of the third quarter of the 17th century. The warm, creamy-white tin glaze shows characteristic crazing throughout; the reverse retains its original sandy, unglazed buff earthenware body.
Provenance: Holland. Mid-to-late 17th century.
Material: Tin-glazed earthenware.
Condition: With minor frits, as one would expect from antique Delft. Fitted with a later wire display wire.
