A fine example of Dutch Delft tin-glazed earthenware, decorated in underglaze manganese purple with a stylised classical urn issuing a flowering spray, all within a triple-line roundel.
The central vaas met bloemen motif — here rendered as a formal, pedestal-footed urn of classical form — reflects the evolving taste of the early 18th century, as Delft potters moved away from the rounder, more organic vessel forms of the previous generation toward more architectural shapes influenced by baroque silver and faience design.
The line-and-dash corner motifs frame the composition, a border treatment characteristic of Delft production of the second quarter of the 18th century. The warm, creamy-white tin glaze shows characteristic crazing throughout; the reverse retains its original sandy, unglazed buff earthenware body, with an old collection number in ink.
Provenance: Holland. Early to mid-18th century.
Material: Tin-glazed earthenware.
Condition: Minor chip to the bottom left corner and to the middle left edge, consistent with age. Fitted with a later wire display stand.
Dimensions: 13.3 cm × 13.3 cm (5¼ × 5¼ inches)
