A six-plank antique oak coffer of small proportions.
17th-century. English origin.
With a single plank top and original iron hasp over a carved front. The centre with original iron lock plate with the initials "IR" and date "1705" below flanked eitherside by a flower vase filled with tulips. Supported at each end by cut-out end boards.
The lid, fitted to the carcass by way of its original iron strap hinges, lifts to reveal an interior fitted with its original till.
The surface has great colour and patination. This coffer is highly useable and displays well and would add a period charm to any interior setting.
Provenance - Found in Suffolk, England.
