A small early 17th-century antique brass box with punchwork floral decoration made from sand-cast brass sheet.
The box opens at each side, from the lid and from the base. The top interior compartment is shallow with six divisions. The base interior compartment is deeper and is void of any fittings.
A similar brass box but of much later date is illustrated in "The Brass Book" by Schiffer, Page 106.
The walls of the box are constructed from sand-cast brass sheet joined by a dovetailed/castellated seam.
Provenance - Unknown.
Condition - The large hinge may be a later repair. Please refer to the images. A further detailed condition report is available upon request.
